  • Whispers of Purim: Purim Through the Lens of Ancient Jewish Art: (Wednesday, February 26th at 7:30 PM) This session will explore how ancient Jewish artists depicted scenes and characters from the Purim story. We'll examine various artistic mediums and styles, analyzing how these visual representations enhance our understanding of the narrative and its key themes. Discover the subtle nuances and symbolic language used by these artists to convey the emotional depth and historical significance of Purim.

  • How to Deal with Jewish Hatred: Insights from the Purim Megillah: (Wednesday, March 5th) The story of Purim confronts the age-old challenge of antisemitism. This session delves into the Megillah's wisdom, exploring the strategies and responses of the Jewish community in the face of hatred. We will examine the historical context of the story and extract practical lessons applicable to contemporary issues of prejudice and discrimination. Specifically, we will focus on Mordechai and Esther's perspectives on Jewish hatred and how those perspectives shaped their actions and ultimately guided them in navigating a hostile environment. What can we learn from their courage and resilience?

  • Action: (Wednesday, March 12th) The final session of the series will focus on the call to action inherent in the Purim story. Specifically, we will examine the actions the Jewish community took in response to the threat of annihilation, culminating in their miraculous victory. We will explore how the lessons of Purim inspire us to act against injustice and to stand up for what is right. How can we translate the themes of courage, resilience, and community responsibility into meaningful action in our own lives?
