Aleph Champ
Aleph Champ: earn your colors, one level at a time.
Kids move up through colored levels, just like karate belts, until they read Hebrew fluently. Everyone knows their level, what comes next, and how to get there.
Where it came from
A Hebrew School director taking karate noticed the two had a lot in common: once-a-week classes, parents unsure how to help at home, and students of every level in one room. The difference? Karate students were excited to practice and moved up fast. Hebrew readers often weren’t.
So she borrowed what works: clear levels, a visible reward for every step, and the fun of testing up with friends. Aleph Champ was born.
How it works
Clear levels
Ten colored levels, from White (first letters) to Black (100+ words a minute).
Stripes along the way
Each level has three stripes, so there’s always a win just ahead.
Grouped by color, not age
Kids read with their level and can race ahead at their own pace.
Master it, then move up
No new level until the current one is truly mastered.
See all ten levels
What each color means, and how to help your champ practice at home.
